A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail thanking me for my information about national parks virtual tours as it helped out Amanda and Grace for their “Exploring the World from Home” workshop at the Rutland County Library in Vermont.

In their research, Amanda found a couple of great online resources that I wanted to share:

Take a virtual trip and see some amazing architecture throughout the world through by clicking here. I really like how you can scroll to a particular place and click to check it out.

Take a virtual reality trip by clicking here. On this page, you can time travel through virtual reality. For example, you can step onto the Titanic as it looked like when it left Great Britain.

Virtual Resources and Tours

Recently, I received an e-mail thanking me for my information about national parks virtual tours as it helped out Corrine and her Girl Scout troop work on their Arts and Culture Fun Patch.

In their research, Corrine found a couple of great online resources that I wanted to share:

Take a virtual trip through each state and visit a historical landmark, museum, or zoo by clicking here. I really like how you can scroll to a particular state and click to check it out. You’ll even see some national parks on there.

Take a virtual trip around the world and visit aquariums, zoos, national parks, famous landmarks, animals, and more by clicking here. You’ll see some national parks on this page too, but also places like Machu Picchu or Buckingham Palace.

Let’s Go Again

I’m still dreaming about travel. We usually travel to Florida around this time of year. So, I decided to go there today. Come with me! I’m traveling to the Dry Tortugas National Park in Florida. Virtually!

Did you know that this national park sits about 70 miles west of Key West? You can only access it by boat or seaplane. This 100-square-mile national park contains Fort Jefferson (one of the largest 19th century forts), coral reefs, an assortment of bird life and marine life, and two light houses here.

Did you know that 99% of this national park is underwater?

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see an island again. I dream about sandy beaches and waves coming in and out. I dream about the salty air. I dream about the clear, blue skies. I dream about the warm breeze.

Well, I decided to take this dream and go virtual! It’s not 2020 anymore, but we still can’t travel yet. So, here I go. Come with me! I’m traveling to the Virgin Islands National Park! Virtually!

Did you know that 2/3 of the St. John Island of the Virgin Islands is a national park? Virgin Islands National Park is more than just beautiful beaches. You can hike to plantation ruins to learn about a time when sugar dominated the island or visit the ancient petroglyphs carved by the Taino Indians. This area has a lot of interesting history here.

Virtual National Park Tours

Did you know that you check out and take a virtual tour of some of the most popular national parks online? I know that I need an escape from everything going on right now and wanted to share it with others.

The National Park Service (NPS) has a great website with a ton of tours, videos, webcams, photos, articles, and other excellent resources.

First, I have to share my favorite national park, Yellowstone National Park. Click here to virtually tour parts of Yellowstone like the Mud Volcano area, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Mammoth Springs, and some other areas.

Who has seen the 1977 movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind?  The film used this unique tower in Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming. You can visit it virtually and check out this distinct tower by clicking here.

I have always wanted to visit Denali National Park in Alaska. Click here to take a virtual tour of this national park.
