Mother’s Day

“It is the custom of every good mother after her children are asleep to rummage in their minds and put things straight for next morning, repacking into their proper places the many articles that have wandered during the day. If you could keep awake (but of course you can’t) you would see your own mother doing this, and you would find it very interesting to watch her. It is quite like tidying up drawers. You would see her on her knees, I expect, lingering humorously over some of your contents, wondering where on earth you had picked this thing up, making discoveries sweet and not so sweet, pressing this to her cheek as if it were as nice as a kitten, and hurriedly stowing that out of sight. When you wake in the morning, the naughtinesses and evil passions with which you went to bed have been folded up small and placed at the bottom of your mind; and on the top, beautifully aired, are spread out prettier thoughts, ready for you to put on.”― J. M. Barrie, The Adventures of Peter Pan Mothers exist all over children’s literature as well quotes about them. Enjoy this one particular quote above from The Adventures of Peter Pan to celebrate this Scottish author’s birthday on Tuesday. Cheers to all the moms out there today! Hopefully you get some time to read a great book today! 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day!

Star Wars Day

Happy Star Wars Day! Say “Star Wars” and most people will think about the amazing movies, but many novels have been written about all these creative characters and stories. In fact, there are around 380 books (not including all the comics)! George Lucas created this magical franchise with the first film back in 1977 and it operates now as a huge enterprise! Happy reading on Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!

National Park Week Thanks

As National Park Week wrapped up yesterday, I thought a lot about our national parks this past week. I thought about all the memories of our visits there. I also thought about the stories of connection, discovery, accomplishment, tradition, gratitude, ingenuity, inspiration, fun, and love! I smiled a lot during all these thoughts and memories. National parks bring us great joy in addition to many other benefits. National Park Week provided us with a daily reminder of all the goodness within this great and unique system. Thank you for coming along with me on this year’s National Park Week.

I have lots of moments of love from our national parks. I fell in love, got engaged, and even got married in our national parks. Enjoy two photos from my own amazing moments of love from the same area in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming 15 years apart. What’s your favorite moment of love from one of the national parks? Time to start planning the next national park trip to create more memories!
